The Moment arrived, and with a mix of excitement and determination, I set out to find the Black Baza. Known for its elegant plumage and aerial acrobatics, this bird is truly a jewel of the skies. After hours of patient waiting, I finally spotted a pair soaring gracefully through the forest canopy. With my camera clicking away, I captured their majestic flight against the backdrop of the Himalayan foothills.
Jerdon‘s Baza – A Hidden Treasure
The mission was to locate the elusive Jerdon‘s Baza, a rare bird known for its secretive nature. Guided by local experts, hiked through the dense forests, following faint calls and fleeting glimpses. My persistence paid off when I stumbled upon a nesting site hidden amongst the branches. Careful not to disturb these magnificent creatures, I managed to capture some intimate moments of the Jerdon‘s Baza in its natural habitat.

While my primary focus was on the Black Baza and Jerdon’s Baza, I couldn’t resist exploring the diverse birdlife of Darjeeling. The region’s avian diversity surprised me, with majestic Great Hornbills, elusive painted button quails, and colorful Barbets gracing my camera lens.
